Silent Sundays with live accompaniment on our 1924 Mighty Wurlitzer are back at the Playhouse!
Kicking off our new season is The Iron Mask on June 30th at 2:30pm! Starring the ‘King of Hollywood’ Douglas Fairbanks in his final silent film, it is a sequel to 1921’s The Three Musketeers (you don’t have to have seen the original film to enjoy this adventure drama). D’Artagnan (Fairbanks) and his fellow musketeers are on a mission to keep the French monarchy from falling into the hands of forces trying to usurp the throne.
With two short spoken sequences, the film marks the first time Fairbanks’ voice is heard on the silver screen!
Accompanying the film is organist Russ Peck. Mr. Peck currently performs at San Diego Symphony Hall/Jacobs Music Center for their silent film presentations and is house organist at San Diego’s Balboa Theatre. In addition to being an organist, he is principal timpanist for the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra.
Tickets are $12. Purchase a subscription in advance and see all 4 films for $37.
