Take a look behind the scenes at one of the few remaining Frank Matcham theatres this September and explore the rich history of the theatre in the hills.
As part of Heritage Open Days and celebrating this year’s theme of routes, networks and connections, Buxton Opera House is opening its doors and offering free theatre tours around the beautiful auditorium, a sneak into the inner workings of the venue in the backstage areas and a dive into its archival story in the Matcham Gallery.
There will also be the opportunity to find out more about the ongoing community projects that take place throughout the year, volunteering roles, and other ways you can get involved and participate in the Opera House’s exciting programme of events.
Tours are free, but do require booking due to limited capacity. Tours last about one hour and start every half hour from 10am to 3pm.
