The Annie Awards have been presented annually by the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association since 1972, to recognize excellence in animation in film and television.
The inaugural awards were held at the Sportsmen’s Lodge hotel in Studio City, CA. There is no information on where the awards were held from 1973 to 1991. From 1992-5 the awards were held at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Plaza Theatre in North Hollywood, CA.
Until the end of 2001 the awards were held in November, then were changed to be held in January/February, and as such there was no awards show in 2002.
