The Paramount Theatre opened in late 1931 as a 3,476-seat movie palace, notable for its Art Deco design. Closing in 1970, it was restored and reopened in 1973, is the home of the Oakland Symphony and, as one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s premiere performing arts facilities, hosts a year-round schedule of popular music concerts, variety shows, and theatre.
