Built by local entertainment company Seltzer and Sons, the 750-seat Alameda Theatre opened in early May 1926 with the movie Classified (1925) starring Corinne Griffith.
The auditorium designed in the Atmospheric style with a Spanish courtyard theme, with interior decoration by B.F. Shearer, Inc. The theatre was equipped with a William Wood theatre organ.
The theatre closed in 1978. By 2005, the building was used by the Victory Outreach Church of Portland.
In the Summer of 2010, the theatre reopened and was renamed the Alberta Rose Theatre, used as a live performance theatre with occasional screenings of independent movies.
