Overview

The Palace Theatre first opened in 1921 as a vaudeville and silent movie theatre. In 1931 the auditorium was remodeled in an Atmospheric style featuring a Spanish village theme.

The theatre closed in 1952. A year later, the theatre was purchased by the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and they occupied the building for 60 years, until 2013.

In summer of 2014 the theatre was reopened as a live performance venue. By January 2018 it had become a church again.

In August 2023 the theatre was sold to a school to be renovated into a gymnasium, classrooms and offices, while retaining much of the interior decoration. Completion is expected in Fall of 2024.
