Wybe J. van der Meer

Died: 1948 (Aurora, Illinois)

Wybe Jelles van der Meer (Sr.) was born in Woudsend, the Netherlands. He spent time in the United States starting in 1906, initially in Chicago, and ultimately emigrated in 1919/20 whereupon he settled in Aurora, Illinois.

van der Meer designed many buildings for the Catholic Church in Rockford, Illinois, and the surrounding area, in addition to schools, monasteries and churches, as well as residential houses and retail premises. A map of van der Meer’s buildings can be found here .
