Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards are presented annually by the Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry, with the first awards ceremony having taken place in 1959.

The inaugural awards ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. For a few years the awards were held across multiple locations: usually New York and Los Angeles, and sometimes also Chicago. In 1965 the awards came from the Beverly Hilton. In 1966 the awards moved the U.S. East Coast, then back to Los Angeles at the newly-opened Music Center for 1967. Multiple locations were used for the 1968-1970 awards, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, and Atlanta.

In 1971 the Hollywood Palladium hosted, followed by the Felt Forum (New York) for 1972, the Tennessee Theatre (Nashville) for 1973, the Hollywood Palladium in 1974, the Uris (now Gershwin) Theatre (New York) in 1975, then returning to the Hollywood Palladium for 1976 and 1977.

In 1997 the awards moved to Madison Square Garden in New York. From 2000 the Los Angeles venue changed to the Staples Center (known since December 2021 as the Crypto.com Arena), which has been used every year since then aside from 2003 and 2018 when the awards came from Madison Square Garden in New York.
